The department of Computer Science was established in the year 1987-88 and is permanently affiliated to Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati, under the guidance of founder principal Dr. S. M. Wankhede; U. U. Kharat HOD of Physic/Computer Science Department.
The department was separated in 1993 under the headship of Dr. S. R. Sirsat. It is the oldest department in the State of Maharashtra and topmost in the SGB Amravati University area. Firstly, Undergraduate Computer Science course was started and the Computer Application (Vocational) Course was started in 2002. The Post Graduate course was added in the year 2010 & Ph. D. in 2022.
Well-equipped laboratory was established and inaugurated by the Honorable Vice Chancellor of SGBA University, Amravati Dr. S.N. Patil on 18-feb-2002. The department is starting Ph.D. (Research) in 2022 under the headship of Dr. A. B. Kadam.
It has sufficient infrastructural facilities available as per need and latest development in the field like Computer Science and Information Technology.
